Jr. Applications Developer

The Jr. Applications Developer's role is to design, code, test, and analyze software programs and applications. This includes researching, designing, documenting, modifying software specifications throughout the production lifecycle in addition to analyzing and amending software errors in a timely and accurate fashion. Further duties and responsibilities are listed below:
Designs, develops and modifies modules based on functional and system requirements.
Work closely with the Team Lead, Business Analyst and other team members for understanding the functional and system requirements.
Participate in testing process through unit testing and bug fixes.
Learn appropriate software modules used and supported by the organization.
Provide support for the testing of new and existing software applications and modules under development or consideration for purchase.
Occasional travel for training is required.
Qualifications
Education:
Graduate of a 4 year degree program in the field of computer science or software engineering
Skills/
Experience:
Required:
Knowledge of object-oriented programming languages, including Java and C#.
Flexible and adaptable in regards to learning and understanding new technologies.
Highly self-motivated, effective team player and results oriented.
Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
Strong organization skills with a keen attention to detail.
Excellent interpersonal, written and oral communication skills (focus on customer service orientation).
Preferred:
Hands on experience working in integrated development environments, including Visual Studio and Eclipse.
Good understanding of Web Design / Development (HTML, JavaScript and CSS).
Familiarity with the Insurance industry, and its standard business processes.
Experience in J2EE application server software development.
Experience working with AJAX, XML, XSLT, jQuery.
Experience working with the .NET Framework (LINQ, ASP, WCF).
Any Microsoft Certifications (MCSE, MCP, etc.)
Good understanding of relational databases design and querying concepts.
Familiarity with version control concepts.
